Phi Delta Kappa - UBC Chapter

President's Welcome

Dear PDK-UBC Kappans,

On behalf of the UBC Chapter Executive Committee, welcome to our chapter's 51st year and some of the most stimulating, engaging, and relevant professional development you will experience!

People unfamiliar with PDK always ask me what is PDK?

Hopefully members are familiar with the objectives and purpose of PDK, but I think it helpful for all of us to take a moment to review the basic tenets of PDK, and our chapter - PDK-UBC Chapter 0124. The over-arching goal of PDK is to promote a high-quality education system (as stated in the PDK Int'l By-Laws). Our contribution in support of this goal is through leadership, research, and service.

Membership in PDK-UBC not only provides rich opportunities for professional growth and networking through our dinner meetings, but also links you to a wealth of educational research and current information through the PDK Int'l journal Kappan, which comes with a professional development guide for some of the key articles. In addition, members have access to a comprehensive suite of resources, articles, and links through the PDK Int'l website. We hope you appreciate the privileges of membership, and maybe even invite a friend or colleague to join you!

I am privileged to lead a dedicated, diverse, and fun group of people that are working hard to plan and deliver a program of events and dinners that we hope will inform you, challenge your thinking or practice, and provide inspiration and information to return to your educational setting invigorated and revitalized for the awesome responsibility we hold as educators.

If you have any questions, comments, or feedback, your suggestions are always welcome. Please contact me at bleonard@sd43.bc.ca.

Sincerely,
Brian Leonard
President - PDK UBC Chapter 0124
